Capturing Madeline and Sean’s sunrise maternity session in Chicago was a truly special experience, marking the sixth time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful couple. The soft quality of the blue hour added a magical touch, highlighting their love and excitement as they await the arrival of their little one. Each session with Madeline and Sean has been a joy, and this maternity shoot was no exception, encapsulating their journey together beautifully as they expect their first this summer.
We chose a beach in Chicago at sunrise for Madeline and Sean’s maternity session to capture the warm glow that the early morning provides. This time of day location added a tranquil effect to the shoot, enhancing the serene and intimate moments between the couple. The soft hues paired with our dreamy Lightroom Presets of dawn perfectly complemented their joy and anticipation, creating timeless and ethereal images.
We decided to head up towards the path with beautiful grassy areas to introduce more texture and variety to the shoot. This choice allowed us to incorporate different elements of nature, which brought in depth and richness to each frame. The lush greenery provided a perfect contrast to the beach setting, enhancing the overall aesthetic of Madeline and Sean’s shoot.
To conclude this very special session, we transitioned into some water shots to capture more cinematic moments. The gentle waves and reflective surface of the lake provided a beautiful backdrop, adding a sense of peace to the photos. Madeline and Sean’s tender interactions in the water beautifully highlighted their connection. These final images, with the water glistening in the morning light, created a perfect ending to their unforgettable shoot.
Maternity sessions hold a unique closeness that always feels incredibly special to me, capturing the intimate anticipation of welcoming new life. This sentiment is especially profound with a couple like Madeline and Sean, whom I’ve had the joy of photographing through their engagement, marriage, and now pregnancy.
