In the world of photography, it is always so special when one photographer reaches out to another for photos. It’s an honor to be chosen to capture moments through the lens for someone who appreciates the art and creates as well. Such was the case when Florence, a fellow photographer, entrusted me with a family photoshoot that celebrated storytelling and journalism for her family session.
Florence’s appreciation for documentary-style photography resonated with me, as we share a passion for capturing authentic moments that tell a unique story. With a sense of purpose and excitement, we planned this family photoshoot, eager to translate the family’s love and connection into visual memories.
North Avenue Beach provided the perfect backdrop for our session. Half of the photos were framed against the backdrop of Lake Michigan. The other half showcased the family in front of Chicago’s iconic skyline.
As the day transitioned into evening, nature gifted us a magical sunset that painted the sky with hues of orange and pink. The family bathed in the soft, warm glow of the setting sun, creating an ethereal atmosphere that added a touch of enchantment to the session. But the magic didn’t stop there. As the sun dipped below the horizon, it gave way to the blue hour, a brief yet magical period of twilight when the sky transforms into shades of deep blue, providing the perfect canvas for capturing the family session in a different light.
Florence’s decision to trust me with her family’s precious moments was a true honor. Our session together at North Avenue Beach encapsulated the essence of family, love, and storytelling through photography. As the day turned into night and the sun’s glow made way for the tranquil blue hour, we found ourselves inspired by the playfulness and love of their family. Family photoshoots at North Avenue Beach will always have a special place in my heart.
