Amalia Serafimaki: Thank you, Anissa! I’m delighted to be here and talk about my passion for underwater photography.
Anissa D.: We’re thrilled to have you! Underwater photography is a fascinating art form, and we’re eager to learn more. Can you tell us about your journey into this unique style of photography?
Amalia Serafimaki: Certainly! My love for the ocean and the mysteries beneath its surface inspired me to explore underwater photography. The desire to capture the beauty of marine life and the ethereal quality of underwater environments motivated me to dive deep into this art form.
Anissa D.: That sounds incredibly captivating! Underwater photography must come with its own set of challenges. What are some of the obstacles you face, and how do you overcome them?
Amalia Serafimaki: Underwater photography indeed presents unique challenges. One of the main hurdles is dealing with light diffusion and color loss underwater. Additionally, maneuvering the equipment and maintaining stability can be tricky. To overcome these obstacles, I continuously experiment with different techniques, lighting setups, and camera settings. Practice and patience are key to achieving the desired results.
Anissa D.: Your dedication to honing your craft is evident. How do you approach composing your shots underwater to create such stunning imagery?
Amalia Serafimaki: Composition is crucial in underwater photography. I focus on finding compelling subjects and creating a sense of depth in my images. Balancing the elements, such as marine life, corals, and the play of light, is essential to convey the unique ambiance of the underwater world. I often wait for the perfect moment to capture the most captivating scenes.
Anissa D.: Your work truly captures the enchantment of the ocean. For aspiring underwater photographers, what advice would you give them in exploring this art form?
Amalia Serafimaki: My advice would be to start by obtaining proper training in scuba diving and underwater safety. Familiarize yourself with the equipment and its underwater housing. Be patient and allow yourself time to adapt to the underwater environment. Most importantly, respect marine life and its habitat. Through practice and dedication, you’ll begin to unveil the hidden beauty beneath the surface.
