Alex and Brittany’s rainy creative couple session in San Diego was a filmy, timeless dream come true! Alex and Brittany are also photographers, who were looking for someone to take photographs of them in California to remember their trip across the country together. Yes, that is right I said traveling across country! They traveled in their van and were driving through San Diego last month, so we decided to meet up and do a creative couple’s session together while they were in town. Our original plan was full on beach vibes with the sun that was supposed to be shining from above. When we looked at the forecast, we saw the chance of rain and decided it was best to choose a location where they could embrace the rainy weather together. We landed on a forest location and the plan was to move forward with the weather and soak up the rain for our session. If you have ever been curious if I shoot in any kind of weather (sun, clouds, rain, snow, etc.) the answer is yes! Always up for an adventure and to embrace the weather we get. Some of my favorite sessions happen to be not the “ideal” weather, like this one!
Brittany ended up thrifting some outfits for our session and brought along some props she thrifted as well. This included a briefcase, newspaper, and a vintage bike (aka the coolest items to thrift and bring along for their creative couple session! The session went into two different vibes or parts as I like to say. Part 1 included the first outfit that was moodier, running around the street with the briefcase she brought. While the second outfit included all the Notebook vibes as it included a dress and a vintage bike. This session was a prime example of a couple creating a session that felt like them and told a story! To all my couples reading this, whether you are wanting something simple for your session or something with props, my goal is to create something that speaks to you and your relationship!
