Photographing love is always rewarding, but when it’s for a lifelong friend, it becomes even more special. Theresa and I have been best friends since we were 10, sharing countless memories, adventures, and milestones throughout the years. Recently, she visited her boyfriend in California, and they decided to schedule a couples session at Solana Beach.
Choosing the right location for a shoot is key. We chose a Solana Beach couples session for its breathtaking coastal beauty. This charming spot, with its dramatic cliffs, striking rock formations, and peaceful atmosphere, offered exemplary scenery for their session. The natural beauty of Solana Beach added an extra touch of magic, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Thankfully, we were lucky to have the most stunning golden hour light during their Solana Beach couples session. Golden hour—the time just before sunset when the light turns soft and warm—provided the most beautiful, glowing setting. The warm hues bathed Theresa and her boyfriend, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Golden hour is often called the “magic hour” in photography, and this session truly showed why.
Afterward, the sky transitioned into the blue hour, that brief period after sunset when the light takes on a cooler, more serene tone. Thus, this shift in lighting, combined with the moon beginning to rise, added an enchanting and almost ethereal quality to the session. We were able to capture several moments under the soft glow of moonlight, giving the photos a touch of wonder and magic.
The session was full of joy and spontaneity. Theresa and her boyfriend danced on the beach, their laughter filling the air. They even splashed around in the ocean, showing the playful side of their relationship. These candid moments brought warmth and authenticity to the photos.
Moreover, capturing these special memories for my lifelong friend was an honor, especially knowing how much they mean to each other. Love, in its many forms, is something to be celebrated, and I’m grateful to be able to document these beautiful moments for couples.
